We take a delve into the archives for a brief history of some of Glasgow’s best known restaurants, past and present, that have been visited by famous faces through the years.
13. Ewan McGregor - Guy's Restaurant
To prepare himself for the role of a chef in the film Perfect Sense, Trainspotting star Ewan McGregor worked in the kitchen of pal Guy Cowan's restaurant back in 2011. The restaurant was once found on Candleriggs and traded successfully in the Merchant City for many years.
14. Justin Bieber - Blue Lagoon
The first Blue Lagoon chippy was opened on Sauchiehall Street back in 1975 by Italian born entrepreneur Ersilio Varese and his childhood sweetheart Edda Varese. The business very quickly took off expanding on to West Nile Street, Argyle Street, Howard Street and Renfield Street in a matter of years truly establishing Blue Lagoon as the face of traditional Fish & Chips in Glasgow. Justin Bieber even visited back in 2016 where he ordered deep-fried haggis and Irn-Bru.
