Hide AdA spokesman for Culture NL, which runs the High Road facility, says the cost of the damage was still being assessed.
He said: “The centre is a much-loved and valued facility for the area, and its resource facility brings people from all over the world. It’s disgraceful it has been targeted this way.”
Officers have been checking CCTV images from the area, and appealed for potential witnesses or anyone with information that may help the investigation to get in touch.
A police spokesman said: “It is very disappointing such a well-used community facility has been targeted in this way.
