Kilsyth Boys Brigade members bound for Malawi
After two years of fundraising, the 3rd Kilsyth Boys Brigade is able to send a team of representatives to the village of Katete, Malawi. They will set off next Thursday (June 11).
BB leaders Christine Johnston and Chris Hudson will be accompanied by six boys – Blair Anderson, Calum Baird, Lewis Cameron, Cameron Costiff, Christopher Smith and Darren Smith.

Despite the remote location more than 2,000 children attend this school, and many of them get their only meal of the day.
Company captain Christine Johnston, who is leading the group from Kilsyth, said: “Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa and Katete is one of its poorest villages.
“ The generosity of individual people, community groups and businesses of Kilsyth and surrounding area will allow the boys to carry out ten days of painting and other repairs at the school.”

Providing they can secure reliable internet access, they will maintain a Facebook page entitled “3rd Kilsyth BB Malawi 2014”, posting photos and written updates.
Once the team is back home they will also set up an evening display to show those who have contributed to their fundraising appeal what their money has achieved.
The people of North Lanarkshire have many close ties to Malawi. School pupils have travelled to the country to help with construction projects and last week the provost held a gala dinner in Motherwell.
