East Dunbartonshire woman’s shock after finding snake in her back garden
The shock encounter happened in a garden in the Springfield Road area last weekend, Sunday, April 12.
The snake, believed to be a carpet python, and almost certain to have been kept by someone as an exotic pet, was sadly dead.
The woman immediately contacted the Scottish SPCA.

Hide AdScottish SPCA inspector Friel told the Herald today (Thursday, April 16): “Unfortunately the snake had passed away prior to being found by a member of the public.
“As there was no way for us to identify the circumstances in which it came to be in the garden, or obvious signs of foul play, we advised the person who found it on how to dispose of the body safely.
“We have kept a record of the incident so should the owner get in touch we can advise them of what happened to their snake and hopefully provide them with some closure.
“If anyone has concerns about an animal they should call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
