Steven Knox (14), a member of Auchengeich Amateur Boxing Club, travelled down to Wales to take part in the 2012 UK Schoolboy Boxing Championships recently.
He was fighting in the 48kg class and was victorious after pipping his English rival 15-14 in one of the highlights of the two-day tournament.

“He’s also very clever educationally so we’ll probably lose him to university, but he’s already part of Scotland’s elite squad and could go all the way.
“I’ve never seen a kid train like he trains and coaches up and down the UK all know about him.
“The fight itself was terrific and he was always in control.”

Hide AdIt’s the latest victory in an amazing fledgling fighting career for Steven, who only took up boxing four years ago to lose some weight.
And now he’ll make boxing history for Auchengeich when he travels to Ireland to fight for Scotland alongside fellow club member Jack Crawford (15).
Joe said: “It’s the first time we’ll have had two members fight at the elite level at the same time which is a great achivement for them both.
“I think it’s helped our members that we’ve moved to the famous Fighting Scots Gym, in Stepps, where people like Ricky Burns drop by now and again to inspire them.”
