Glaswegians will have fond memories of their early years growing up in Glasgow, with many old locations no longer standing.
We wanted to find out the places which meant something to Glaswegians so asked our readers to let us know the spots which still had a special place in their heart with over 150 people getting back to us with their thoughts.

13. Pollok Park
Highland cattle were first brought to Pollok Country Park over 180 years ago in the early 19th century by the Maxwell family, who owned Pollok Estate and lived in Pollok House. They bred and exhibited their prizewinning fold at local shows, and used the cattle to graze on natural pastures to help with conservation and biodiversity. The soil in the park is rich in clay, meaning it was difficult to grow cereals and vegetables, but perfect for the Highland cattle’s unique grazing skills. 14. Byres Road
Byres Road remains one of Glasgow's busiest streets with Glaswegians having walked up and down the road many times, whether it be heading to the University Cafe for an ice cream or catching a film at The Grosvenor. | Virtual Mitchell
15. Glasgow Garden Festival
The Glasgow Garden Festival, held in 1988, was the first international event to be held in Glasgow in over 50 years following the Empire Exhibition in 1938 and arguably marked a turning point in the fortunes of the biggest city in Scotland. With substantial investment in the event, the Festival signalled a rebirth of the city from a historically industrial city to a hub of culture - with Glasgow being named as the European City of Culture in 1990, which was heavily influenced by the Glasgow Garden Festival. 16. The old Transport Museum
Many generations of Glaswegian’s have fond memories of the old building which was a popular spot for school trips and visits on days off for many years. This site occupying the rear of Kelvin Hall was not the original premises though as the first museum opened in Glasgow’s Southside in 1964 in Coplawhill Tram Depot before moving to the West End in 1988.
