Morrisons took on a team from Tesco in Bellshill in a charity football match in support of Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Forget the Euro’s, the biggest football rivalry was held earlier this month when two supermarket giants went head to head in an epic clash of the checkouts!

Together, the teams raised a total of £810, which was matched by the Morrisons Foundation, resulting in over £1,600 being donated to CHAS, helping their vital work to provide care to children with life limiting conditions from communities across Scotland.

Lisa Stirling, Community Champion at the Bellshill Morrisons store said: “I’m so proud of the teams from Morrisons and Tesco in raising so much for such a worthy cause. Although the score didn’t go our way, Tesco won by six goals to five, the real result is the amazing amount we raised for CHAS.

“It was brilliant to be part of such a fun day that everyone enjoyed, maybe next year we can bring on even more supermarkets and have a full tournament!”

The amount raised from the sponsored football match will help CHAS’s hospices, home care and hospital support services. CHAS provides palliative care, family respite and support throughout Scotland including dedicated bases in Aberdeen and Inverness.

CHAS relies on the generosity of supporters to help them provide unwavering care to children with critical conditions. If you would like to know more about their vital work and donate to their appeal, please visit https://www.chas.org.uk/
