Nostalgic cruises the whole family can enjoy this Summer: Glasgow and the Clyde Coast Cruises 2024

Waverley Excursions
Recapture the romance of the great age of steam as you embark on a nostalgic trip this summer aboard the famous Waverley, with sailings from Glasgow and around the Clyde coast.

It’s a great day out for all the family aboard the magnificent Waverley – the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer – as she returns to Glasgow and the Clyde coast from Friday 28th June to Sunday 25th August 2024.

Ports of call

Step aboard at one of 18 “ports of call” around the Clyde coast and pick from an endless variety of cruises that only the Waverley can offer.

Popular departure points include Glasgow, Greenock, Largs and Ayr with a variety of stops at charming locations including Rothesay, Dunoon, Millport, Ardrishaig, Tarbert, Campbeltown, Blairmore and Tighnabruaich, or Brodick and Lochranza on the Isle of Arran.

Steam round the famous Ailsa Craig, or through the stunning Kyles of Bute, take a cruise up the Clyde ‘Fjords’ of Loch Long and Loch Goil beneath the beautiful ‘Arrochar Alps’, or join Waverley for an evening sunset cruise “Doon the Watter” – there is a huge variety of choice that only Waverley offers.

Waverley

Steam, snacks and souvenirs

Waverley comes alive as her paddles start to beat and the sound of her steam whistle. The ship's polished brass fittings, traditional wooden decks and the gentle aroma of hot oil and steam transport you back in time. The sight of her famous towering funnels is instantly recognisable and admired by all who see her.

National Historic Ships UK has given Waverley the prestigious status of National Flagship of the Year in recognition of her ambitious cruising programme around the UK.

Once aboard, make sure to visit the Engine Room and savour the sight, sound and armour of a real steamship – hear the telegraph ring and watch the engine start to move. You can even see the paddles turning through the portholes.

Full catering facilities are available throughout all cruises, so take the time to enjoy a hot or cold snacks, tea and cake in the afternoon or refreshments in one of the period lounges.

Don’t forget to visit the Souvenir Shop and take home an exclusive gift or memento of your trip on this famous and much-loved ship.
